Canelo vs. Fielding To Be Streamed On DAZN
Canelo Alvarez’s next fight has a new broadcast home.
According to a report from Boxing Scene, Alvarez’s upcoming fight against Rocky Fielding on December 15 will be streamed on the DAZN platform. But the deal between DAZN and Golden Boy Promotions doesn’t just end with Alvarez’s fight at the end of the year.
The report also states that there will also be additional boxing cards from Golden Boy Promotions streamed on DAZN. The platform has an existing eight-year deal with Matchroom Boxing, who is Fielding’s promoter, and launched in the United States back in September.
The new deal also marks Alvarez’s departure from HBO, who have been showing his fights for the past few years. It also marks a departure from the high cost pay-per-view events as nine of Alvarez’s last 10 fights were on pay-per-view between HBO and Showtime.
The December 15 fight, scheduled to headline a boxing card at Madison Square Garden, will be for Fielding’s WBA “regular” super middleweight title. The fight will also mark Alvarez’s second fight above middleweight as his first fight at more than 160 pounds took place in May 2017. Alvarez’s last fight took place on September 15 against Gennady Golovkin and that fight saw Alvarez win the unified WBA and WBC middleweight titles by majority decision.
