Cris Cyborg Thinks Claressa Shields Will Do Well In MMA
Cris Cyborg believes Claressa Shields will be able to have success in MMA.
Shields is the current undisputed female junior-middleweight champion. She has also won undisputed gold at middleweight. In search of even more challenges, Shields is also dipping her toes in the MMA waters. She’ll go one-on-one with Brittney Elkin on June 10 under the PFL banner.
Cyborg, who is a friend of Shields, told Sky Sports that she believes the undefeated boxer will make her mark in MMA.
“I believe Claressa will do great. She is young, has time to learn a lot. She has amazing skills in boxing and every [MMA fight] starts standing up. Her opponents have to be careful.”
Shields has received praise for stepping into the world of MMA from others, such as former UFC “Champ-Champ” Conor McGregor. Here’s a positive message that McGregor had for Shields on Twitter.
Respect this multi weight boxing world champion! Competing in her first MMA fight next month. A rare occurrence that is to be lauded with praise!
Real courage a lot of her male counterparts do not possess.
Good luck Clarissa!
Another multi weight, multi sport savage! Welcome 😎 https://t.co/eIQuIPV7yr— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 7, 2021

Shields’ pro boxing record stands at a perfect 11-0. She is hoping to replicate that success in MMA.
