Dana White: Du Plessis Vs. Chimaev Will Happen
Dana White says UFC Middleweight Champion Dricus du Plessis will face Khamzat Chimaev — just not during International Fight Week.
The fight was in doubt after reports surfaced that Du Plessis was injured. Chimaev accused the champion of ducking him, while Du Plessis fired back, noting he had fought six times since 2022, compared to Chimaev’s three appearances and three canceled fights. Du Plessis also clarified no contract had been signed, while denying claims that he was injured. White now says the matchup is happening — just at a later date.
“Okay so everyone had their opinions and rumours and stories about a shin break and injuries etc. I found it all very entertaining, unfortunately none of it is true myself and @ufc already discussed a fight date and opponent, the June fight was never signed I did not pull out of any fight, I am the champion I know when I fight you as a contender just show up when we tell you to. Fight announcement coming soon stay tuned,” Du Plessis said
“We all know that fight’s happening. The du Plessis vs. Khamzat fight, it’s happening. It’s just not happening in International Fight Week…That fight’s done,” White said
