Dana White On Strickland vs. Chimaev Rematch
UFC CEO Dana White has declined to confirm whether Khamzat Chimaev (15-1) will receive an immediate rematch with newly crowned middleweight champion Sean Strickland (31-7) following his split decision defeat at UFC 328 on May 9.
Strickland pulled off an upset victory in Newark, outworking him to claim the middleweight title for a second time. Chimaev initially indicated to White at the post-fight press conference that he planned to move up to light heavyweight, before calling for a rematch. On whether Strickland would be open to the rematch, White’s response was straightforward.
“Khamzat, right now, is asking for the rematch with Strickland. That’s what he wants. We don’t know what we’re going to do yet. Strickland will fight anybody,” White said
