Nonito Donaire Says Rematch With Naoya Inoue Will Be Better
After stunning the audience with their breath-taking punches and movement, Nonito Donaire (42-6, 28 KOs) is looking forward to having a rematch against Naoya Inoue (22-0, 19 KOs). The Filipino boxer believes that their rematch will be even better.
The duo locked horns in the final of the World Boxing Super Series in November 2019. Little did they know that they would produce the battle of the ages.
Donaire wants to have a rematch in the same venue, Super Arena, Saitama, and the 39-year-old is optimistic about adding WBA and IBF 118lb titles to the WBC title he won 12 months ago.
“It was a tough battle. The intensity shown by the two of us was out there for everyone to see. I am expecting the rematch to be even better than our first fight. I will be coming into this fight with a new mindset. The first match gave me a lot of learning lessons and now I know how to defeat him,” Donaire stated.
“This fight is not just my wish, but the entire world’s wish. June 7 in Japan is going to be a special day for the sport. I am looking forward to making it memorable personally,” Donaire said.
