Movsar Evloev secured a majority decision victory over Lerone Murphy at UFC London in the featherweight main event, as he targeted the champion Alexander Volkavoski next.
The result gave Murphy his first loss, as Evloev remained top the featherweight rankings. Murphy successfully stifled Evloev’s rhythm in Rounds 1 and 2, landing right hands and body shots. Evloev abandoned his wrestling early on after eating Murphy’s lead hooks. Between the third and fourth rounds, Murphy informed his corner that his left hip had “popped.” His lateral mobility vanished, but in the fourth round, the referee deducted a point from Evloev following a second low blow. Evloev then returned to his grappling to seal the result: 48-46, 48-46, and 47-47. Wasting no time in his post-fight interview, Evloev turned his attention towards Volk.
🗣️ Movsar Evloev: “UFC, there is no excuse to don’t let me fight for the title. I have nothing to say.”
🗣️ Lerone Murphy: “Make sure Movsar Evloev gets the title shot. That man deserves it, he’s next in line.” 👏 #UFCLondonpic.twitter.com/uoTx6PVyHL
