Fighter Earns UFC Contract With DWCS Victory, Then Immediately Marries Fiancée
Isaac Moreno (9-0) earned a UFC contract on September 8 and celebrated by marrying his fiancée just hours later in a Las Vegas chapel.
Moreno defeated Reginaldo Junior by unanimous decision at Dana White’s Contender Series, with all three judges scoring the welterweight fight 29-28.
The unbeaten prospect was tested throughout the fight, including being dropped by a right hand late in the opening round and having to defend submission attempts later in the bout. Moreno ultimately did enough to secure the victory before Dana White awarded him a UFC contract.
Moreno then revealed that he had another major event planned for later that night: his wedding.
“Nobody knew about this. Me and my fiancée were like, ‘Let’s just do it. Let’s get married after my fight,’” Moreno said.
Moreno and his fiancée had already planned to marry at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, with Moreno telling her before the fight that he expected to arrive with a UFC contract in hand.
His next appearance will mark his UFC debut and the 10th fight of his professional MMA career, but his first as a married man.
