GLORY 78: Badr Vs. Benny Postponed
Another premier event for GLORY Kickboxing has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. GLORY 78, set to take place inside Rotterdam Ahoy in the Netherlands on June 20, will be moved to a new date to be determined.
“The measures in place are essential in combating the spread of COVID-19 and the health and safety of our fans, athletes, staff and the wider public remains our primary concern,” said GLORY CEO Marshall Zelaznik in a statement.
“We look forward to bringing fans back to the excitement of GLORY as soon as circumstances permit.”
GLORY 78 would have featured a heavyweight bout featuring Badr Hari v. Benjamin Adegbuyi. Ranked number two in the heavyweight division, Adegbuyi (34-6) is 6-2 in his last eight fights. After losing to Jamal Ben Saddik in the GLORY Heavyweight Grand Prix Finals at GLORY 62, “Mister Gentleman” beat D’Angelo Marshall at GLORY 71 in November.
Hari (106-15, 1NC) has won multiple titles for K-1. He made his GLORY debut in 2016, losing to Rico Verhoeven via TKO. He has yet to win a bout with GLORY, as a decision win at GLORY 51 was reversed to a no-contest after he and Hesdy Gerges both tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs. The 35-year-old last fought in December, losing to Rico Verhoeven in a rematch via TKO.
Tickets that have already been purchased will remain valid whenever a rescheduled date is announced. A promo code will be sent to ticket holders to receive a new pass to the event. Tickets can also be refunded. As new information is released, GLORY will be keeping fans notified via its newsletter campaign.
