Max Holloway (26-7) says he has no concerns about stepping up from 155 to 170-pounds to face Conor McGregor (22-6) on July 11, which will be Conor’s first fight in 5 years.
“My thoughts on the fight being at 170 was like, who cares? Weight is just a number. Real gladiators back in the day, they didn’t walk around with a scale. You show up and you fight. Weight ain’t nothing but a number,” Holloway
The pair first met at featherweight in 2013, with McGregor winning all three scorecards 30-27, 30-26, however Holloway was just 21-years-old during that match and says he isn’t leaning on that result heavily in his preparations. Twelve years on Holloway has become one of UFC’s premiere fighters as he has been a featherweight and BMF champion, and is ready for his welterweight debut against Conor, who will also be making his debut in the division.
