UFC Middleweight Champion Khamzat Chimaev and ex-UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson recently shared the mats for some grappling.
Chimaev, who is currently preparing for his first title defense against Sean Strickland at UFC 328 on May 9, tested his skills against someone who is 60 pounds lighter.
Johnson looked to work from his back, attempting to utilize his half-guard to neutralize Chimaev’s heavy top pressure. Chimaev eventually managed to isolate the flyweight’s neck, transitioning into a deep D’Arce choke attempt. Johnson remained calm, eventually spinning his way out of the hold to reset—avoiding the tap.
