King Mo Going After RIZIN 205 Title
After considering a move to middleweight, Muhammed Lawal has decided to put that on-hold to become the first Rizin FF light heavyweight champion.
Suffering back-to-back losses while fighting for Bellator against Ryan Bader and Liam McGeary, he continues Bellator’s partnership with the Japanese organization facing Jiri Prochazka.
“(I can make) 185, straight up – I’m 204 right now,” Lawal recently told MMA Junkie Radio. “185 is just like right there. So 205, 185, heavyweight – whatever. Money weight.”
The event, set for April 21st at the Yokohama Arena in Yokohama, Japan, will have Lawal return to Japan as part of a talent exchange that saw bantamweight champion Darrion Caldwell fight at Rizin 14.
“I’m going to be real with you: Titles, they’re cool I guess, but I just want to get that win,” Lawal said. “I couldn’t care less about the title. Straight up.”
“Me and Jiri fought before, and I beat him, so I guess they’re trying to get some payback on me… They’re going to see what’s up.”
