Low Blow Stops Bellator 215 Main Event

On Friday night, Bellator returned to Mohegan Sun with Bellator 215, as Sergei Kharitonov took on Matt Mitrione in a heavyweight main event.

The main event would be the most talked about fight of the night, but not for great reasons. 15 seconds into the fight, Mitrione attempted a leg kick but missed to strike Kharitonov in the groin, causing the Russian to hit the ground and lead to the fight being called off as a no contest.

A deflated Mitrione told reporters following the card that if any fighter fell out tomorrow night, he’d be happy to replace them in an attempt to make up for what happened on Friday night.

In the opening contest of the main card, Austin Vanderford remained undefeated by tapping out Cody Jones in the second round with an arm-triangle choke.
