Manny Pacquiao’s Son Turns Pro
Manny Pacquiao’s son, Emmanuel Pacquiao Jr., has turned pro at the age of 24.
Reports indicate he will make his debut on the first US Manny Pacquiao Promotions card in Temecula, California, on November 29. Pacquiao Jr. is alleged to have a 6-4 amateur record, with reports he has four consecutive losses and an uncounted draw. His head trainer Marvin Somodio has previously raised questions about his readiness.
Pacquiao Jr. will naturally draw comparisons with his father, who became an eight-weight world champion. Pacquiao recently came out of retirement at 46 to secure a draw with WBC Welterweight Champion Mario Barrios in July. Reports indicate his next fight could be in January against WBA Welterweight Champion Rolando Romero. It remains to be seen if Pacquiao Jr. will appear on that card if the fight is made, but in the meantime, all eyes are on his debut.
