Oezdemir Trial Date Set For July 9th

Following the announcement that Volkan Oezdemir would be moved from the UFC Hamburg event on July 22nd against Mauricio Rua, to UFC 227 against Alexander Gustafsson, his trial date would be pushed to July 9th.

Speaking with MMA Fighting on Tuesday, Oezdemir’s attorney, Bruce Zimet, said his trial for felony battery with great bodily harm, for a bar fight last summer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida was moved for the third time.

Zimet told MMA Fighting, he expects the trial to last only several days and likely not longer than a week.

Oezdemir a Switzerland native, lives and trains in South Florida, was arrested in November and forced to surrender his passport to the court.

This is the third time that Oezdemir’s trial date would be moved back, which was set originally for May, then June 18th, and now July 9th.
