Rising Star Taylor Joins MTK Global
A top welterweight at only 29 years old, Liam Taylor is looking to make his mark in the boxing world. He will look to do so with MTK Global, who signed the Middleton native to an exclusive deal.
“I am happy to be signing with MTK Global,” Taylor stated via press release. “My stablemate Terry Flanagan joined a year ago and has told me how good MTK Global is to work with.
“They put on some great shows in the UK with some top fights and fighters and I am looking forward to mixing it with some of their welterweights. I have ambitions of winning the top domestic titles and testing my ability.
Taylor (21-1-1) became a pro in 2011. He won his first 11 fights before losing to Tyrone Nurse via unanimous decision in 2015. Following that, Taylor went eleven fights without a loss. Last time out, “Dynamo” faced Chris Jenkins for the Commonwealth Welterweight Title. The bout ended in a draw, resulting in Taylor’s ten-fight streak with a win coming to an end.
“After an unlucky technical draw in November for the British and Commonwealth title I feel confident that I can take on fighters at British level and above,” Taylor went on to say. “I am hoping to keep pushing towards the bigger fights I have been working towards.”
An opponent has not been announced for Taylor as of this moment. He joins Jack Rafferty as members of Terry Flanagan’s stable.
“Liam is excited about the move to MTK Global,” trainer Steve Maylett stated. “For Liam it’s a chance to add structure to his career and give a clearer vision of what route he is going down.
“Signing with MTK Global is a positive move for Liam as it’s a fresh start, and I know they can guide him to titles where his talent lies.”
