Shevchenko Gets New Multi-fight UFC Deal

Holly Holm isn’t the only women’s UFC fighter to ink a new contract, as current UFC women’s flyweight champion has signed a new, multi-fight deal with the MMA promotion.

Shevchenko’s manager, Roger Allen, announced the new deal signing but none of the contract’s terms were revealed. Shevchenko is 5-2 inside the Octagon, with both of her losses coming to Amanda Nunes — one in a title shot at UFC 215 that ended in a controversial decision loss.

Shevchenko recently returned to flyweight following the division’s establishment in the UFC, dominating Priscila Cachoeira in February 2018 before defeating Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 231 for the then-vacant title.

“This is a very lucrative deal for Valentina’s career and sets in motion her desire to be one of the most active champions,” Allen told ESPN in a statement. “We are excited with her rise and our relationship with the UFC.

“The timing of this deal is very good, and we now have structure to have synergies with the recent development of the enhanced partnership of ESPN+ and PPV.”

Shevchenko is scheduled to return to action at UFC 238 on June 8, defending her title against Jessica Eye.
