Taylor vs. Catterall Rematch Confirmed For April 27

Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall have agreed on a rematch for April 27.

Taylor won their only fight in controversial circumstances, coming out with a split decision in his backyard. Many in the boxing community felt Catterall was deprived of becoming the Undisputed Junior Welterweight Champion. A rematch was meant for last February, but Taylor withdrew with a foot injury. The rematch never happened as Taylor chose to face Teofimo Lopez. Taylor lost his WBO Junior Welterweight Belt against Lopez, making the Catterall bout a non-title fight. Although there is no belt on the line, both fighters have plenty to prove, given the contentious nature of the first fight.

“Today I should have been waking up with all of the belts. Boxing, shame on you. … Dreams stolen,” Catterall said

“It wasn’t my best performance, and I’ve put a lot of pressure on myself being heavy favorite and boxing back at home … but once I started catching him, I believe I got the win 100 percent. I know I won the fight; overall I scored the bigger shots and the more meaningful shots. He put up a good fight, but he never won the fight. Second half of the fight I took control,” Taylor revealed
