Video: Canelo Alvarez KOs Virtual Opponent In VR Game

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has shown that he is just as dangerous with his hands in virtual reality as he is inside the ring with top contenders.

Alvarez made an appearance on a Mexican TV show alongside Oscar De La Hoya and former WBC champion, Julio César Chávez Jr.

When asked to put on VR headsets and take on his virtual opponent, Canelo resorted to the similar technique that he has been showing the world in real life.

The undisputed champ first scored a knockdown in the opening round, then controlled most of the fight from onward. He ducked and dodged heavy punches in a flash and waited for his moments in the game.

Later, he unloaded a barrage of punches to win the game via stoppage. The boxing game brought out the best in Canelo as he was often seeing swearing at the opponent’s moves.

He then proudly celebrated the win in front of a large studio audience. On the work front, Canelo is preparing for a showdown against cruiserweight champion Ilunga Makabu. He currently possesses WBC, WBO, WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine titles.

It will be interesting to see how he will strategize against Makabu, who is considerably heavier than him and has the knockout power to wobble Canelo at will.
