Actor Tom Hardy has made key appearances in films like “The Dark Knight Rises” and “Venom,” but this past weekend, he made a surprise appearance in England.
Hardy, 45, competed in a grappling competition in Milton Keynes, England and won all of his matches. He was awarded a championship in his division.
Hardy was introduced to Brazilian jiu-jitsu while training for his role in 2011 film, “Warrior.” He continued training after production and has been a regular supporter ever since. He also filmed a past promo on the set of series “Peaky Blinders” for fighter Jack McGann ahead of a BAMMA event.

Now, he competes in his spare time.
The “Venom” star is currently ranked as a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and has been reportedly competing in different tournaments. He recently won the REORG Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Wolverhampton, England.
The promoter of the latest event described Hardy as “a really nice guy” who stayed to take photos with those who attended.
His opponent in the final match, Danny Appleby, said he was shocked – like everyone else – to see Hardy at the competition.
”I recognized him straightaway,” Danny Appleby told the MK Citizen. “Everyone knows who Tom Hardy is, don’t they? I was shell-shocked. He said, ‘Just forget it’s me and do what you would normally do.’”
