Former UFC middleweight champion Khamzat Chimaev (15-1 MMA) dominated former UFC welterweight champ Tyron Woodley in the Real American Freestyle main event this past weekend, as he needed just 94 seconds to pin Woodley and get the victory in Moscow.
Chimaev used his natural advantages in length, leverage, and physicality to score push-out points at the start of the opening period. After Woodley’s unsuccessful takedown attempt, Chimaev slammed the American to the mat, pinned his shoulders to the ground and secured the lightning-quick win.
The victory advanced Chimaev’s RAF record to 2-0 with both wins coming by way of pinfall, having defeated Dillon Danis with a first-round finish when debuting with the freestyle wrestling organization on June 13.
Chimaev returns to RAF for his third match on September 18 when he takes on Gilbert Burns. The bout is a rematch of their April 2022 UFC fight, which Chimaev won by unanimous decision. Two other UFC stars, Colby Covington and Belal Muhammad, compete at cruiserweight in the main event of RAF 13 at the Watsco Center in Miami, Florida.
Chimaev hasn’t fought in the UFC since losing his UFC middleweight championship to Sean Strickland via split decision at UFC 328 on May 9. He said recently he’s ready to fight anybody, from a Strickland rematch to other challenges such as Caio Borralho or Dricus du Plessis.
