Zuffa Boxing co-founder, Dana White, provided an update on the prospective Anthony Joshua (30-4, 27 KOs) vs. Tyson Fury (36-2-1, 25 KOs) fight tentatively planned for later this year.
Joshua and Fury have circled one another for most of their respective careers. And while AJ has notable wins over Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, with Fury renowned for his trilogy with Deontay Wilder, they are yet to box each other.
With no other obligations, the British rivals are expected to fight in November. However, Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, threatened earlier this week to call the whole thing off if organizers — Turki Alalshikh and Netflix — announced the bout as booked for New York City.
Hearn and Joshua maintained that they wanted the Fury fight in the United Kingdom, per their own deal. Even Frank Warren, who has worked with Fury for years, later agreed that the “natural home” for the fight is Wembley Stadium in London.
Now, White has added his say.
“They either want to fight or they don’t. We did the television deal and the venue deal … There’s a lot of money for grabs in this fight. Do you want to fight or do you not want to fight?”
Asked directly if he’d be happy for the fight to land in the UK, White said, “Yeah.”
