Not only did the fights deliver on Sunday in Washington, D.C., with finishes in all seven bouts, but the monumental spectacle of hosting an event at the White House, coupled with the UFC’s high end production value, resulted in a historical evening for MMA.
Between the extravagant construction of the set pieces, lighting rig, and LED arch design, the outdoor amphitheatre-style setting felt like a permanent fixture of the South Lawn. This, combined with the White House as the real-life background imagery, made UFC Freedom 250 feel unlike any other UFC event.

The show began with an opening ceremony including a full band, marching military officers, standard-bearers, and a flyover by the U.S. Airforce during the National Anthem performed by country star Zac Brown.
The unique pre-show all went along with the extravagant theme of the event and was expected following the press conferences during fight week that featured fly-overs by bald eagles and fireworks shows. This, of course, contributed to supporting the framework and original basis of this event, which is to celebrate America’s 250th birthday.
No better way to start #UFCWhiteHouse 👏

Many were quick to scrutinize fighting in the outdoor conditions, given the high-profile nature of some of the matches on the card, and their concerns almost came true when a short delay was introduced because of the potential for rain. Luckily, after roughly a half-hour, the show went ahead as originally planned.
Following the opening ceremony, UFC CEO Dana White and U.S. President Donald Trump made their way from the White House and down to the cage-side seats in the temporary arena. From there, Trump was mostly there as a spectator, except for congratulating fighters after impressive wins, as he often does at other UFC events he attends. Following Justin Gaethje’s main event lightweight title victory over Ilia Topuria, the president and first lady entered the octagon to congratulate the newly crowned champion and meet his family.

Celebrities in attendance at the event included Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby, NHL stars Matthew Tkachuk and Brady Tkachuk, former WWE Wrestler Shane McMahon, and NFL legend Michael Irvin. Additionally, comedian Tony Hinchcliffe was also on the approved list of invitees and made an appearance. Hinchcliffe became a household name, for better or worse depending on your views, after delivering a controversial speech at a Donald Trump campaign rally in 2024.
Also in attendance, multi-time world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury made an elaborate walkout for his interview with Jon Anik. This was a surprise appearance to most for ‘The Gypsy King’, and he stated that he and Dana White will be making a big announcement together soon, while touching on his fight with Anthony Joshua that is expected to be scheduled for later this year.

“I think I’m gonna let Dana do the speaking, let him do the announcement, but it’s a massive, massive, massive announcement.”
“It’s been a long time and boy oh boy am I happy to be here at this historic event, freedom at the White House and Donald Trump’s birthday.”
With the event now in the rear view, many are already considering it one of the most monumental moments in MMA history so far. This is not just simply because of the fights, although surely the 100% knockout rate didn’t hurt, but this event will be remembered because it is an obvious measurement of how far the sport has come.
It is important to keep in mind that it was only twenty years ago that New York became the first state to legalize the promotion of MMA events, and now there has been one on the White House lawn.
The end of a legendary, historic and unforgettable night 🙌
Thanks for tuning in to #UFCWhiteHouse fight fans!
