Burns, Chiesa Interested In Main Event Scrap

With the future of fight cards unknown due to the coronavirus, the stars of the UFC are looking to make things interesting.

Acting as a liaison between the two, The Schmo asked if anyone would want to see Gilbert Burns take on Michael Chiesa. Burns (18-3) was extremely interested in the bout, offering a message of support while also planting the seed for whenever the bout happens.

“My guy @MikeMav22 stay safe! All this numbers 5 and above don’t want anything with me and you I agree that might be the next for us! I’m in for a main event after all this craziness! Let’s do it BURNS X CHIESA”

Chiesa (17-4) responded, calling the potential bout the people’s main event.

“You stay safe as well brother, BURNS X CHIESA is the main event the people need when this coronavirus ends. It would be an honor. Then we can finally train together after! Ossss”

Ranked sixth in the UFC’s welterweight rankings, Burns is on a five-fight win streak and is 7-1 in his last eight fights. His last bout was in March, beating Demian Maia via TKO in round one. The win earned him his third Performance of the Night bonus. A potential clash with Colby Covington could be in play, but nothing is confirmed as of this moment.

Right below Burns at number eight Chiesa is on a three-fight win streak, and is 4-2 in his last six fights. His last bout was in January, beating Rafael dos Anjos via unanimous decision. It was his third bout in the UFC’s welterweight division after a stay in the lightweight division.

It is unknown when this fight would get made. When things clear up, however, we will most likely be seeing this bout grace the octagon and our TV screens.
