Cobbs Drops Broner In A Unanimous Decision Win

Blair Cobbs dropped Adrien Broner on his way to a one-sided unanimous decision win.

The ten-round welterweight clash offered Broner a chance to give one more push at a potential title shot if he could rediscover the form, which made him a four-division champion. However, it was clear from the outset that Broner was no longer the same fighter. Cobbs was quicker out of the gate, pressing the action on the front foot. He sent Broner to the canvas in the second round with a snappy left land, knocking out his opponent’s tooth.

Although Broner got up, he was on the back foot. Broner covered his head, with Cobbs hitting the body in the hope of a stoppage. While Broner survived the round, the writing was on the wall. Broner had lost every round going into the second half, meaning he needed a stoppage. Cobbs did slow down, but it was not due to Broner’s activity. Cobbs continued to dictate the fight, taking the decision on the cards: 97-91, 96-93, 96-93.
