Matchroom Boxing‘s Eddie Hearn has tested positive for COVID-19.
Hearn is considered to be the gold standard when it comes to boxing promotion in the UK. He is also well known around the world for having scooped up mega talents such as WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua.
Hearn planned to stay inside the “bubble” for the October 4 Matchroom Boxing card featuring Joshua Buatsi vs Marko Calic. The action will be held inside Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. As it turns out, Hearn tested positive for the coronavirus and has been sent home to rest.
Gutted to just find out I tested positive for Covid-19 today and have to leave the bubble immediately. Thankfully all other tests were negative. Heading home to rest – catch up tomorrow 👍

Just one day prior to testing positive for COVID-19, Hearn expressed his joy in the fact that all fighters on the Buatsi vs. Calic card had tested negative.

Numerous boxing promotions have taken precautions to ensure the safety of the athletes, cornermen, and staff workers. Usually, protocol calls for anyone infected with COVID-19 to be immediately sent away from the bubble.
