Expected New Date For Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell
Ryan Garcia vs. Luke Campbell may have a new date.
Garcia and Campbell were scheduled to clash on December 5 for the interim WBC Lightweight Championship. The title fight had to be pushed back as Campbell tested positive for COVID-19. The good news is that Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn said the delay shouldn’t last too long.
Oscar De La Hoya confirmed Hearn’s comments, telling The Athletic that Garcia vs. Campbell could have a new date.
Just caught up with @OscarDeLaHoya, who tells @TheAthletic the rescheduled @KingRyanG vs. @luke11campbell fight will “most likely” take place Dec. 19 on DAZN. Oscar said Campbell was already 10 days into quarantine when they were notified about his COVID diagnosis. Great matchup

Garcia vs. Campbell is the first big fight for DAZN’s push to enter the UK market. The fight was scheduled to take place in the afternoon in an effort to cater to fans in England due to timezone differences as well as to not go head-to-head with Errol Spence Jr. vs. Danny Garcia. If the new December 19 date sticks, then Garcia vs. Campbell could go unopposed.
Garcia comes into his bout against Campbell with a record of 20-0. Campbell’s record sits at 20-3. In Garcia’s 20 victories, 17 of them have come by way of knockout. As for Campbell, he has 16 knockout victories.
