Former MLB Star Alex Rodriguez Invests In PFL
Former MLB baseball star Alex Rodriguez is investing in the PFL.
Rodriguez, who was an All-Star New York Yankee shortstop, invested in the PFL and will join the board of directors, the promotion announced on Thursday.
“I love the global reach of MMA,” Rodriguez said in a statement.
“The PFL continues to build and innovate for fans, media, and fighters, and there is massive demand in the marketplace.”
The 46-year-old contributed to a $30 million funding round with Waverley Capital. The terms of the investment were not disclosed.
The funding will reportedly go towards a global expansion and the launch of the PFL’s targeted pay-per-view “super fight division.”
These investors include other celebrities and former athletes like rapper Wiz Khalifa and football Hall of Famer Ray Lewis.
PFL was founded in 2018. It currently streams and airs on ESPN and ESPN+.
Standout talents include Kayla Harrison, Ray Cooper III and Anthony Pettis, to name a few.
