UFC 273 – April 9 – Alexander Volkanovski  vs. Chan Sung Jung

Alexander Volkanovski and Chan-Sung Jung ‘The Korean Zombie’ will face off in the main event of UFC 273 in the first weekend of April.

Australian born Volkanovski, known as ‘The Great’, boasts a supreme record of 23-1 and he is the current defending champion of the UFC Featherweight division. His opponent, Chan-Sung, is set to realign his career following two defeats in his last five encounters. The two contenders have never fought each other, which is sure to make for an exciting contest and one that should intrigue all fans of UFC.

UFC Fight Night 206 – April 16, Rafa Garcia vs. Jesse Ronson

The Canadian lightweight fighter Jesse Ronson will make his highly anticipated return this April.

Ronson will face Rafa Garcia at a UFC Fight Night event on April 16.

Ronson had officially  confirmed the match-up on social media.

He commenced his second stint in the UFC in July of 2020. At the time, what was intended to be a rear-naked choke victory for Garcia when he faced Nicolas Dalby was later altered into a No Contest when Ronson tested positive for a few substances such as androgen and anabolic steroids.

As a result, Ronson was issued with a 20-month long suspension by USADA, the regulative authority responsible for overseeing the UFC’s anti-doping policies. Ronson was quoted as saying that he believed a “tainted supplement was the culprit”.

Garcia entered the UFC in 2021, and fought three times.

The experienced Combate Americas lightweight champion posted a 1-2 record, dropping both his initial bouts to Nasrat Haqparast and Chris Gruetzemacher. During his last outing, Ronson returned to the win column.

UFC Fight Night 206April 16 Vicente Luque vs Belal Muhammad

Vicente Luque and Belal Muhammad will clash again in a rematch of top-ranked welterweights in this main event of the upcoming UFC card set for April 16.

Luque has held his position as one of the most unforgiving finishers in the welterweight division, boasting an incredible 10-2 record during his past 12 fights. Luque is riding a four-fight victorious streak taken off by submission wins against former UFC welterweight champions Tyron Woodley and Michael Chiesa.

Luque will now take another leap towards title contention by going against Muhammad, who has compiled a remarkable win streak of his own.

Muhammad remains Undefeated in seven consecutive fights. He has made a steady and humble climb into the welterweight ranks while defeating a throng of veterans. Following his previous two fights, Muhammad has claimed wins after defeating two former UFC title fighters, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson and Demian Maia.

Muhammad now looks to solidify the victorious streak while trying to bounce-back from his past loss when he faces Luque.

UFC Fight Night 207 – April 23 Tanner Boser vs. Alexander Romanov

A heavyweight match-up between Canadian Tanner Boser and Brazil’s Rodrigo Nascimento has been scrapped from the cards. Nascimento has pulled out of the fight and will be replaced with Alexander Romanov.

Boser had a two fight skid last June when he defeated heavyweight Ovince St. Preux. Before that, Boser had lost decisions to Andrei Arlovski and Ilir Latifi.

He had been lined up to fight against Sergei Pavlovich in December, however the fight fell through.

His opponent, Romanov, has yet to be defeated during his professional career. During his last fight, he won against Jared Vanderaa via second-round technical knockout.

UFC Fight Night 208 – April 30, 2022 Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson

The upcoming fight pitting Michael Chandler against Tony Ferguson is well on the cards. Chandler  has managed a mixture of success since he switched from Bellator MMA to UFC. The former three-time Bellator lightweight champion joined UFC as an alternative for the lightweight title clash between champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje. He entered with a wholehearted UFC debut by dominating Dan Hooker during a first-round technical. He then went after the UFC lightweight title in his subsequent contest for the promotion, losing to Oliveira.

Ferguson has been experiencing his own spat of rough stretches. The former UFC interim lightweight champion went into the Chandler fight following his first-ever career losing streak, robbing him of his career-best 12-fight winning streak. The Chandler fight followed losses to Gaethje, Oliveira and Beneil Dariush. In his prime, Ferguson was thought of as the most promising challenger to NNurmagomedov’s immaculate record when he won against avid fighters; Rafael dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, Anthony Pettis, Edson Barboza and Josh Thomson.
