Former boxing world champion Adrien Broner has his sights set on a return to the ring.
Broner was last seen competing on January 19, 2019. He fought Manny Pacquiao for the WBA (Regular) Welterweight Championship. Broner lost the fight via unanimous decision. With the loss, Broner has gone 0-2-1 in his last three outings.
Despite his stock seemingly dropping, Broner is asking for a big payday to return. He has demanded $10 million for a return fight. This is a number that many feel is unattainable due to the COVID-19 pandemic. There’s also the question of whether or not Broner has lost his appeal.
Broner took to his Instagram account to release a training video and made it clear that he’s looking to return to action.
“Yupp it’s time to get my shit back together and become champion again cause they just trying to count me out like I’m old and ain’t got a chance to do sh*t ……. F*CK YALL ITS TIME TO STOP ALL THIS BULL SH*TTING #SoonToBe5x.”
Broner hasn’t emerged victorious since February 18, 2017. It was a split nod over Adrian Granados. Time will tell if Broner can find the level of success he once had before running into Marcos Maidana back in late 2013.
Some have questioned whether or not Broner is in the right state of mind to return to competition. He has been dealing with a slew of legal issues over the years. More recently, Broner was forced to pay $830,000 over a sexual assault case from 2018.
