Haney Beats Ramirez To Return To Winning Ways
Devin Haney returned to winning ways by beating Jose Ramirez in a unanimous decision to put his Ryan Garcia no-contest behind him.Â
Haney had pressure after being dropped by Garcia three times in his previous fight, only for his loss to be overturned after Ryan failed VADA tests for Ostarine. Haney showed signs of ring rust, as he was reluctant to engage early on. He was throwing tentative punches in the opener, keeping his right hand high on the outside. However, The Dream found his rhythm in the middle rounds.
He landed a crisp uppercut in the fifth round, followed by his jabs in the sixth, which cut Ramirez near the eye. Ramirez needed to up the pace, which he did in the latter rounds. He tried to back Haney up in the tenth, landing his hook to the body. However, it was too late as Haney secured a win on the scorecards: 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.
