Keith Thurman Fires Back At Errol Spence Jr.

Keith Thurman is aware of the harsh words from Errol Spence Jr. and he’s offered a response.

Spence was recently asked if a bout with Thurman would interest him. While Spence has expressed his desire to fight WBA (Super) Welterweight Champion Manny Pacquiao and WBO titleholder Terence Crawford, Thurman is another story. In fact, Spence went as far as to say “f*ck Keith Thurman.”

During an edition of the PBC Podcast, Thurman fired back at Spence (via BoxingScene.com).

“Spence has fought Porter, and now Garcia – guys I already handled a long time ago – so he’s fighting in my shadow. Porter has aggression. Garcia has the counters. But Keith Thurman can be aggressive, counter and show movement and power, so I’m someone he’s never been in the ring with.”

Thurman also said that Spence hasn’t fought anyone outside of the fighters he has already beaten.

“That’s a lot of talk for someone who is handling my past work. As an amateur, people would circle my name so they could avoid a Keith Thurman fight. Maybe Errol’s doing the same thing; I don’t know. But I know I can challenge Errol Spence in a way that he’s never been challenged.”

Thurman hasn’t been inside the boxing ring since July 20, 2019. He suffered his first career loss to Manny Pacquiao via split decision. Thurman lost the WBA (Super) Welterweight gold in the process.

As for Spence, he’s scheduled to put his WBC and IBF gold on the line against Danny Garcia on December 5. That bout will air live on pay-per-view via PBC on FOX and on FIGHT SPORTS in over 30 countries.
