Alex Pereira To Corner Strickland In Du Plessis Rematch

Alex Pereira will be in Sean Strickland’s corner for his rematch against Dricus Du Plessis

Strickland rematches Du Plessis on February 8 from the Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. He lost their first fight at UFC 297 via a controversial split decision, losing his UFC Middleweight Title. Strickland bounced back with a win over Paulo Costa at UFC 302. Meanwhile, Du Plessis defended his title successfully by submitting Israel Adesanya at UFC 305.

Strickland will fight in the same arena where he became champion after beating Adesanya. This time he will do it with the help of his former rival. Strickland faced Alex in 2022 as the latter knocked him out in the first round. Pereira went on to win belts at middleweight and light heavyweight, making him the ideal person to guide Strickland through this world title fight.

“We will have Alex Pereira in the corner, so dropping the news right now. He’s a good friend of Sean. He’s a great training partner. Obviously, these guys have fought, but after the fight, I think it takes a man to go and learn from the guy who caught you with something,” Eric Nicksick
