Michael Chandler (23-10) has reacted to Conor McGregor’s (22-6) upcoming UFC return against Max Holloway (27-9) at UFC 329 on July 11, as he wishes Conor well in his comeback fight while insisting a fight between the two will happen at some point.
“Whether me and Conor fight in the UFC or not, Conor and I will compete against each other at some point, in some venue, somewhere, somehow, some way,” Chandler
The pair were set to face each other in June 2024, however Conor withdrew one day before the press conference as he cited he had a broke pinky toe. Due to Conor withdrawing from that fight, Chandler was hopeful he would be Conor’s opponent for his comeback, but the UFC had other ideas. The promotion did however book Chandler to compete on their historic June 14th White House show against Mauricio Ruffy. While Chandler is coming off three consecutive losses, including a unanimous decision defeat to Charles Oliveira and stoppage losses to Dustin Poirier and Paddy Pimblett, he was characteristically direct about his intentions on the White House lawn.
“I’m going to knock out Mauricio Ruffy on the White House lawn. And then we’ll see what happens after that,” Chandler stated
Conor recently said he wants to face Chandler because he feels Chandler “deserves it” after waiting so long, but that doesn’t mean the bout is in UFC’s plans.
