Conor McGregor has issued an update following his surgery to repair his torn ACL and meniscus he suffered in the opening seconds of his comeback fight vs Max Holloway on July 11.
The Irishman returned to the UFC after five years away from the Octagon, however disaster struck early in his welterweight fight against Holloway when he suffered a severe injury while attempting a roundhouse kick in the first few seconds of the bout. Though McGregor returned to his feet, he went back down twice more before the referee put a stop to the match.
McGregor announced Monday that he was undergoing surgery to repair the damage done to his right knee, and has now given a statement following as successful surgery.
“Surgery went excellent,” he said. “I am confident.”
McGregor, who has one fight remaining on his UFC contract, said that he intends to compete in his “Last dance” on International Fight Week in July, 2027, and has mentioned he wants his final fight in the Octagon to be a third bout vs Max Holloway.
