Devin Haney Shares Message To His Mother Following Reports She Has Passed

Devin Haney has addressed the reports surrounding the passing of his mother, April Clay, in a heartfelt post to social media, in what is being considered the first public acknowledgement by a family member of the news.

Reports of Clay’s passing became public earlier this week when close team member and former world champion Mickey Bey offered his condolences on social media. And while the death has not been addressed directly at this time, most feel that Haney’s recent statement paints a clear picture.

The current welterweight titleholder became a three-division world champion with his most recent WBO title victory over Brian Norman Jr. in late 2025. It was expected that he would face the mandatory WBO challenger in October, but Keyshawn Davis withdrew from the planned matchup. It is now being reported that Haney is targeting a second belt through a match with IBF titleholder Liam Paro.

The WBO reposted and replied on X to their welterweight champion’s online statement, offering thoughts and prayers from the entire organization.
