Dustin Poirier On Support From UFC Following Viral Arrest

Dustin Poirier seems to be taking the proper steps to make up for and move on from his arrest last month, and it sounds like he has the full and complete support of the UFC during the troubling time in his life.

The former interim lightweight titleholder was arrested for public drunkenness on June 21st at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport following a dispute with airline agents and police. Luckily, Poirier eventually complied with law enforcement, and no unnecessary damage needed to occur. Following the incident.

Poirier was quite vocal that he wasn’t having an easy time since retiring from MMA last year, and he points to this incident as a manifestation of the massive change in lifestyle that so many others before him have struggled with. Immediately following the arrest, Poirier acknowledged that he has some work to do on himself and seemed dedicated to healing and moving past this.

Following his arrest, Poirier received a supportive message from the UFC’s Hunter Campbell, who offered Poirier any help he may need in the current situation. Poirier recounted the conversation while praising the promotion for the way they assist their former athletes during a recent interview.

“Literally one day after the arrest and all of that happened, Hunter Campbell with the UFC reached out to me and asked me what he can do, that the UFC’s got my back, anything they can do, anything I need help with, let them know and they’re all in.” he said. So, no, the UFC, the company, immediately reached out to me and had my back.”
