Masvidal And Poirier Give Their Take On McGregor Vs. Holloway Rematch

Jorge Masvidal (35-17) and Dustin Poirier (30-10, 1 NC) have both offered their takes on the upcoming welterweight clash between Conor McGregor (22-6) and Max Holloway (27-9) at UFC 329 on July 11.

Masvidal sees only one outcome: “I think Max smokes him like a brisket.” Jorge’s reasoning is centred less on technique and more on lifestyle: “Conor lives a certain lifestyle we’ve all seen — you can tell it’s not for show. Max lives a completely different life. I’ve never seen Max at the club drunk. You never see him in the headlines for anything bad. That guy is in the gym.”

Poirier, who has fought both men three times, took a more measured view. He acknowledged McGregor’s power as a factor that cannot be dismissed: “No matter the injury, the power is going to be there. This is going to be a firefight. Conor is going to kickbox with him for 25 minutes. He has a puncher’s chance.”

Dustin also flagged a concern about Holloway heading into the fight, stating he has shown a tendency to get dropped: “In Max’s last three fights, he’s touched the canvas more times than in his whole career. Gaethje dropped him, Topuria dropped him, I dropped him.”
