Dustin Poirier has responded to newly released footage from the Atlanta Police Department, showing him allegedly intoxicated as he threatens and berates airport security and local police outside an airline gate before being taken into custody.
Poirier was arrested on a misdemeanor public intoxication charge after apparently being removed from a flight by cabin crew. He was released on bail following a Monday morning court appearance in Atlanta. The footage shows the former interim UFC lightweight champion in a confrontational state, threatening to fight multiple members of staff before officers intervened. Poirier broke his silence, promising to work on himself in the aftermath.
Poirier retired following a loss to Max Holloway at UFC 318 last summer, capping a career that included wins over Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler and Benoit Saint-Denis, though an undisputed lightweight title remained out of reach throughout. Since retiring, Poirier has repeatedly hinted at a return to combat sports, most recently expressing interest in a trilogy with newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Justin Gaethje.
