Kambosos and Lomachenko lost out on the chance to become undisputed after losing to Devin Haney. Kambosos lost consecutive fights in Australia after having previously unified the division with a shock win over Teofimo Lopez. Meanwhile, Lomachenko lost a controversial unanimous decision to Haney, with many feeling the Ukrainian was unjustly deprived of a win.
Vasyl Lomachenko vs George Kambosos for the vacant IBF lightweight world title will reportedly take place on Sunday, May 12th in Australia (May 11th USA time, early hours of May 12th UK time). [According to @MikeCoppinger]

Since those losses, both boxers have had different responses. Kambosos’ last bout was an unconvincing majority-decision win over Maxi Hughes. Lomachenko had the chance to fight Shakur Stevenson for the vacant WBC title but chose to take an extended break.
“I met with Egis before he went off to Poland for the Usyk fight. We tried to make the fight between Shakur and Loma. And Egis told us that Loma has decided that he’s not fighting again this year. So, the fact that they’re talking about a fight with Loma and Kambosos is nonsense. Egis would not mislead us, and he told us that Loma wants to take the rest of the year off,” Arum said
Victory for either fighter puts them in line for a big unification fight against Stevenson or Gervonta Davis. Tank was elevated to the full WBA champion status after Haney’s decision to vacate.
