Jones has been through obstacles even inside the ring. His 1988 defeat to Park Si-hun at the Seoul Olympics prevented him from getting the gold medal. It was a fight that Jones had clearly won. Jones would use that to fuel his pro career. He became a four-division champion, securing belts at middleweight, super middleweight, light-heavyweight, and heavyweight.

He has also had a career as a trainer when he helped Chris Eubank Jr. and Jermall Charlo. Jones’ last boxing fight was a loss to Anthony Pettis last year. Although he has plans on boxing again, the latest news has left him with plenty to deal with. Tributes have poured in.
