Lauren Price’s Next World Title Defense Announced

Lauren Price (10-0, 2KOs) MBE will put her welterweight titles on the line against Michaela Kotaskova (12-1-2, 4KOs) at Cardiff’s Utilita Arena on Friday, November 20. The BOXXER card will be shown live and free on BBC Two and BBC iPlayer.

The Tokyo 2020 gold medallist became Wales’ first female world champion in May 2024, beating former undisputed champion Jessica McCaskill in Cardiff to win the WBA and IBO belts. She added the IBF and WBC straps in March 2025 by defeating Natasha Jonas at the Royal Albert Hall. Her most recent outing was a tough win over mandatory challenger Stephanie Piñeiro Aquino in April.

Kotaskova, the Czech WBF champion, has lost just once in 15 pro fights. That defeat came on points to Chantelle Cameron in April, in a bout for the vacant WBO super welterweight title. She now drops back to welterweight, where she has never been beaten.

Price said fighting in Wales is unbeatable and called herself “the best welterweight on the planet,” promising a statement performance for her home crowd. Kotaskova paid respect to Price’s achievements but insisted she is travelling to Cardiff to take the belts, adding that a hostile arena will only fuel her.

BOXXER chief Ben Shalom described Price as one of British boxing’s biggest names and expects Kotaskova to test her. BBC Cymru Wales sport editor Graham Davies called her rise from Olympic champion to unified titleholder remarkable.

On the undercard, Penygraig’s Rhys Edwards meets Scotland’s Lee McGregor, a former British, Commonwealth and European champion, for the WBA Continental featherweight title. Unbeaten Cardiff middleweight Kyran Jones takes on Liverpool’s Sean Arkwright.
