Shakur Vs. Haney Off?
A potential showdown between undefeated champions Shakur Stevenson (25-0, 11 KOs) and Devin Haney (33-0, 15 KOs, 1 NC) remains unconfirmed, despite negotiations progressing over a proposed November 28 date in Atlanta.
Haney’s father and trainer, Bill Haney, revealed that an offer has been made for the fighters to meet at a 145-pound catchweight.
“There has been a challenge to their team to take the fight at 145 and take it on the 28th of November in Atlanta,” Bill said. “The offer is on the table.”
Weight has been a major obstacle in negotiations between the rival Americans.
Stevenson, who holds The Ring and WBO junior welterweight titles, initially sought a 144-pound catchweight alongside a 10-pound next-day rehydration restriction.
Haney, the WBO welterweight champion, countered with a 145-pound limit without a rehydration clause, which Stevenson subsequently accepted.
However, an agreement on the fight itself has not been announced, and Stevenson has yet to publicly accept the proposed November 28 date.
Stevenson became a four-division world champion by defeating Teofimo Lopez in January. Haney has not fought since winning the WBO welterweight title against Brian Norman in November 2025.
Both fighters remain interested in the matchup, but whether negotiations can produce a finalized agreement for November remains uncertain.
