Noche UFC Gets New Main Event
Yair Rodriguez (20-5) has withdrawn from Noche UFC on September 12. He was scheduled to compete at featherweight against Jean Silva (17-3), who now has a replacement opponent on roughly three weeks’ notice.
Initial reports said Rodriguez pulled out for undisclosed reasons. However, he later issued a statement confirming that an injury forced him to withdraw.
“I tried to continue my training but ultimately it wasn’t responsible to compete in this condition,” he said. “Now my job is to fully recover and come back ready to compete at the level you expect of me, and that I expect of myself.”
Silva remains in the Noche UFC main event and will instead face Jose Delgado (12-2).
Delgado is an Arizona native and enters the Octagon on a two-fight winning streak after defeating Andre Fili and Austin Bashi by decision.
Silva, meanwhile, will look to build on his momentum after defeating Arnold Allen in his first fight since losing to Diego Lopes last year.
Other fights on the Noche UFC main card include Brandon Moreno against Joseph Morales at flyweight, Manon Fiorot vs. Alexa Grasso at women’s flyweight, and Waldo Cortes Acosta against Curtis Blaydes at heavyweight.
